Projector
Not sure if this community is still in use as nobody seems to have posted anything in quite a while, but i'll give it ago

ok, so basically im looking to buy a super 8 projector and i have NO idea where to start, what is a good one, what isnt so good, how much i should be paying etc etc.

i guess if i tell you a bit about what i want to do with it might help any recommendations.

im a fine art student, and im going to be making some work in the vein of Stan Brakhage, so camera-less film, bleaching the film, sticking stuff to it (really thin stuff obviously) scratching into it and other various things. to do this im going to use old film, so i wont actually be using a camera, just the projector to project the film!

so yeh if anybody can help me i would really appreciate it!!

This weekend I'm shooting nighttime exteriors at a stolen location. Because of some elements (streetlights and shiny surfaces), I NEED to shoot at night, but I also need some form of illumination for the kids' faces. However, my budget is visible only under a microscope. What's the best cheap and inconspicuous way to lighting nighttime exteriors? (Something battery-powered would be great.)

I also have some footage that needs to appear as though it's on TV. What's the best way to shoot it as though it was playing on a TV? I have a small TV set, and I'm not too worried about the horizontal rolling that comes with shooting off a TV, but I need the footage to be visible, and I'm concerned about the contrast that shooting off a TV could give. What should I do?

the canon 310xl
or,
fuck 64-t

I'm working on a project, and would love nothing more than to include some super- 8 footage. Because I'm an idiot and a amateur, I'd like a few tips. Hopefully I'll get some help.

1- I'm looking for color film. Because Kodak's 64T doesn't work with the camera, I'm happy to purchase off the internet. What would you recommend?
2- How much to have that film processed, and then transferred to mini-dv?
And,
3- Could anyone point me in the direction of a guide to physically drawing upon the film? Any hints there?

Thanks

Has anyone here worked with BPS Processing in Illinois?

I just got off the phone with them, and they had great turnaround time, decent prices, and the ability to push film. With those three factors, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

(I know Dwayne's has a lot of fans here, and their position as one of the best labs is well-earned...but I'm doing day-for-night and need to push the film. Dwayne's explicitly states on their website that they do not push or pull film, which is why I need to look elsewhere. Sorry, Dwayne's.)

New camcorder ^^
I hope there are still a few folks running about this place.
You see, I go out to an auction in Waskom, TX pretty regular and I found a Keystone Super 8 there. Being a fan of old odds and ends, I asked if they would run it so I could bid. Instead, they outright gave it to me on account that no one could work it and they assumed getting film for it would be hard or impossible.

I could really use some assistance in learning to operate it and kinda need some information on care/upkeep and where to locate film (if I can).

That's how it looks. Please note that it is not my image, just one I googled for reference, since I have no working digital camera.

Thanks much, y'all. =D

Alternate sources of light
I'm shooting interiors in a building with limited electrical ability. (As in: we brought in a Lowel kit and shorted one of the fuses.) What are some good, Tungsten-balanced sources of light that we could use? We will be using a halogen light as a fill of some sort.

film help
Hey, it doesn't look like anyone has used this in a while, but I'll try it anyway.
Mostly because when I type in the cameras name on google, this is the only thing that comes up.

Story is:
My cinema teacher has a huge stock of old and oldish cameras that she doesn't know anything about (she's a young teacher and the stock dates back to, let's say, 60s), so she has given me the opportunity to take whatever camera I want, however many I want, as long as I promise to learn how to use them and then actually use them.

I do have a glorious semi-professional video camcorder of my own that I use most often, but I do feel that it would be a worthwhile and special experience to use a true "film" camera.

The first one I chose to start was a "Cinemax C-601 Super-8", or so it says on the front. I have absolutely no idea what any of that means, and that's all that it's come as. It's lens is fine and it's only current problems are that of being very dirty, without batteries, and without film. Even the teacher had difficulty figuring out where the film goes and how to open that place.

So my questions are:
What kind of film does this darling need and where could I find it/devlop it?
and how exactly does it work?

I am a complete digital baby and I have no idea, I do know how to use slr cameras, and do recognize....some things...but overall I'm at a loss. Again, this is the only place that comes up whenever I search, so it's really the only hope.

thanks if you help, sorry to bother.
